Stranger works because people treat each other decently. These terms spell out what that means. They apply every time you use Stranger, and starting a conversation means you accept them.

Age

Stranger is only for people aged 18 and over. If you're under 18, please leave. We remove anyone who seems to be underage.

The service

Stranger matches you at random with someone who chose the same mode. We don't know who your match is and can't confirm anything they tell you about themselves. There may not always be someone available.

We provide Stranger as it is. It can be offline at times, and we may change or remove features without notice.

Conduct

In your conversations, these are not allowed:

  • Nudity, sexual behaviour or sexual conversation, whether on camera or in text.
  • Anything that sexualises minors. We always report this to the police.
  • Harassment, threats, hateful remarks, or pressuring your match into anything.
  • Violence, self-harm, threatening with weapons, or drug use.
  • Asking for money, gifts or personal information; scams and blackmail.
  • Advertising, spam, links, and bots or other automated use.
  • Recording your match and sharing it without their consent.
  • Posing as someone else, or evading moderation or a block.

Recording

All conversations on Stranger are recorded, including text, voice and video. Recording begins when you press start, so time spent waiting for a match is included. Moderators may review recordings and watch conversations as they happen, without notifying you. The privacy page describes what we keep and for how long.

Enforcement

If you break these terms we may end your conversation and block you from Stranger, without warning. We report illegal content to the police, and child sexual abuse material always, including the recording and your IP address.

Responsibility

You are responsible for your own words and actions. The people you meet are not acting on our behalf, and we are not responsible for their behaviour. You can end any conversation at once with Next or Stop.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damage arising from using Stranger or from contact with other users.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date above shows the latest version; continuing to use Stranger after an update means you accept it.
